1. New Buildings and Infrastructures, New Urbanized Area %

New Urbanized Area:

  • Visual Inspection: The new urbanized area has increased by approximately 25%

  • Key Areas of Expansion: Eastern and Southern parts of the city, along major highways and riverbanks.

  • Residential Development: Numerous new residential areas, particularly in the eastern and southern parts, are visible.

  • Key Areas: Gandhinagar Highway, S.G. Highway, and areas around the airport.

Based on the comparison, there are approximately 1,500 new structures visible in the 2024 map. This includes residential buildings, commercial complexes, and public infrastructure.

  • Prahladnagar: This area has seen extensive development with new residential and commercial buildings.

  • SG Highway: The area along the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway has developed into a major commercial and residential hub.

  • GIFT City: The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City has expanded with new buildings and infrastructure.

  • Thaltej: This once-suburban area has transformed into a prime residential and commercial hub.

  • Gandhinagar Highway: This corridor has seen rapid urbanization, with new residential societies, industrial parks, and IT parks.


5. Areas with Increased Green Cover in 2024

  • Limited Increase: While some green spaces might have been maintained or added, the overall trend seems to be towards urbanization.

  • Riverbanks and Parks: The areas around the Sabarmati Riverfront and the outskirts of the city have seen an increase in green cover. Efforts to develop parks and green spaces have contributed to this change.

  • East: Gandhinagar Highway, S.G. Highway, and areas around the airport

  • West: Thaltej, Bopal, and Ghuma

    • Education and healthcare, as the area attracts affluent residents

    • Retail and entertainment, tapping into the affluent consumer base
